•

width. The road to the fan is used once a day to check the fan and the road to the
portals is used a couple of times a month for inspections of the site and the substation.
Drainage -Due to the limited use of the roads the drainage control primarily consists of
graveling natural drainages across the road. The location of these cross drains is
shown on Exhibit 57.
Surfacing -The road surface for most of this access road is dirt or existing rock
surfaces.
Maintenance -The road is graded occasionally to eliminate ruts and to promote
drainage. Additional water bars or gravel will be installed as necessary to minimize
erosion.
Structure
Location
Construction Dates
Access Road 4 CRDA 1, Exhibit 9B
(Formerly Access Road #g)
2002
Description -This road is projected as access to Cameo Refuse Disposal Area
(CRDA) No. 1 for hauling final cover material. The 1,200' of road will extend from Haul
Road 4 near Coal Gulch, cross Coal Gulch and then up a hill to the south where it will
cross onto CRDA 1.
Design and Construction -The road will be constructed on a weathered sandstone
and shale hillside. Cut and fill methods will be used to construct a 20' roadway
including a MSHA berm along the outside edge of the road. The maximum cut slope
will be 1.5h:1v in unconsolidated material and 0.25h:1v in bed rock. The average
grade will be 10%.
Drainage -Drainage control for this road will involve grading the road to the inside to
collect runoff and direct it to Pond 11, see Appendix 13-1 for design. A 24" CMP
culvert will be installed where the road crosses CRDA 1's NW collection ditch, see
Appendix 13-2 for design.
Surfacing -Due to the high natural rock content of the road cut and the temporary
nature of the road, no roadbase will be used and a minimal amount of 3/4 roadbase
gravel will be used.
Maintenance -The road will be watered regularly during use and grading will be done
on the road to eliminate ruts and to promote drainage.
T13-2-8
(Rev. 02/28/2002)
