each application at its April 28, 2009 meeting and had voted to recommend approval of all of
the applications for the amounts requested.
Ms. Wattles noted that property adjacent to the Hayden MUSE:Um belonged to the
railroad, which would not sell, lease, or allow use of the area for storage since it was too close
to the tracks. The Museum was in the process of acquiring land from another adjacent
property owner to be used for storage.
In regard to the Historic Routt County! application, Commissioner Monger questioned
the sustainability of the request for funds to conduct cow town ranch tours. Ms.
Daughenbaugh said that the funds would be used for transportation costs and advertising, and
funds garnered from this year's tour would fund future years' tours.
Commissioner Monger stated that a requirement of the Hahn's Peak project should be
that access be made handicapped accessible.
MOTION
Based on the recommendation of the Routt County Museum and Heritage Fund
Advisory Board, Commissioner Monger moved to approve the Museum and Heritage Fund
Capacity-Building Grant Applications for the following entities and amounts:
Tread of Pioneers Museum $ 1,625.00
Hayden Historical Society $ 1,746.50
Historic Routt County! $ 2,500.00
Hahn's Peak Area Historical Society $10,000.00
Commissioner Mitsch Bush seconded; the motion carried 2-0. Commissioner Stahoviak
was absent.
EN RE: ROAD AND BRIDGE / HEATHER MC LAUGHLIN
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR TESTING
Commissioner Stahoviak joined the day's proceedings during the following presentation
so declined to participate in the motion made regarding the request.
Ms. McLaughlin reviewed a contract for small exploratory gravel and soil testing
services on a time and materials basis. She asked that the Board approve the sole-sourcing of
the contract since the firm was the only local testing service, and samples tested need not be
sent away for analysis, thus averting the potential settling and skewing of samples. She said
that the contract specified an hourly rate for several enumerated services that might be
utilized. The contract was a general contract for small projects rather than for a specific larger
project. She anticipated that services for the entire year would not exceed $4,950.00.
Page 2009-284
May 26, 2009
Routt County Board of County Commissioners' Minutes
