Pagel 2
The proposed expansion area pit boundary was carefully considered with. the banks of the
Yampa River and the FEMA Floodway in mind. The main channel of the Yampa River
is approximately 500 feet north of the closest point to the pit boundary. A side channel of
the Yampa River runs parallel to the northwest boundary of the pit. The offset from this
side channel to the pit boundary ranges from 68 feet to 300 feet. The proposed pit
boundary is not within the FEMA Floodway of the Yampa River so there will be no
aggregate extraction within the floodway. The Floodplain Evaluation letter dated
February 3, 2009 by Water Resource Consultants, LLC provides more detailed
information regarding the floodway and flood fringe boundaries relative to the proposed
expansion pit boundary.
I hope this additional information helps with your review. Please let me know if you have any
questions.
Sincerely,
Chris Rundall, PE, LEED AP
Division Manager
Cc: David Zehner, Precision Excavating, Inc.
John Vanderbloemen, Esq.
Attachments: Notice & Certified Mail Receipts to Xcel Energy & Yampa Valley Electric
Exhibit L: Reclamation Costs
