Colowyo C-1981-019
27 May 2009 L
Pg 3/7
Hydrologic Balance (cont.): - The Work Area Pond (NPDES 002A) contained water
approximately one foot below the top of the discharge pipe (just below the weep
hole) and was not discharging at the time of the inspection. There was a very small
amount of water from the recent rainfall flowing into the pond. The pond
embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be stable at the time of the
inspection. No erosional problems were noted on the embankment at the time of
the inspection. The emergency spillway is a riprapped open channel. The spillway
appeared to be stable.
- The Gossard Pond (NPDES 003A) contained water approximately three feet below
the discharge pipe and was not discharging at the time of the inspection. The pond
embankment was well vegetated and stable. No erosional problems were noted on
the embankment. The cement presump at the inlet of the pond was full of water.
The emergency spillway is a 12" culvert.
- The West Pit Pond (NPDES 008A) contained water approximately two feet below the
gated valve on the discharge pipe and six feet below the top of the pipe and was
not discharging at the time of the inspection. There was a small amount of water in
the presettling basin but it was not discharging into the main pond. The pond
embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be stable at the time of the
inspection. No erosional problems were noted on the embankment at the time of
the inspection. The emergency spillway is a riprapped open channel. The spillway
appeared to be stable.
- The Rail Loop Pond (NPDES 006A) was basically dry and was not discharging at the
time of the inspection. The pond embankment was well vegetated and appeared
to be stable at the time of the inspection. No erosional problems were noted on the
embankment at the time of the inspection. There is a fair amount of sediment in this
pond and it was indicated that the pond would be cleaned out this summer.
- The Stoker Siding Pond (NPDES 005A) contained water approximately three feet
below the top of the discharge pipe and was discharging an immeasurable trickle
through the weep hole. The pond embankment was well vegetated and appeared
to be stable at the time of the inspection. No erosional problems were noted on the
embankment at the time of the inspection. The emergency spillway appeared to be
stable.
- The East Taylor Pond (NPDES 01 OA) contained a small amount of water
(approximately one foot below the weep hole and six feet below the top of the
discharge pipe) at the time of the inspection and was not discharging. The pond
embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be stable at the time of the
inspection. No erosional problems noted on the embankment at the time of the
inspection. The dirt that was in the emergency spillway to allow equipment into the
area has been removed.
- The Prospect Pond (NPDES 007A) contained water and was discharging through the
weep hole at the time of the inspection. The discharge was clear. There was no
water flowing into the pond from runoff. The pond embankment was well vegetated
and stable at the time of the inspection. There were no erosional problems noted on
the pond embankment. There appears to be a very small (2'x2') slump area on the
south inslope of the pond that will need to be monitored.
