_r.
Aar%
amec
Earth & Environmental
Material suitable for Structural Fill from the aforementioned cut areas was hauled to the Phase
5 VLF fill areas between stations K3+00 to K9+00 approximately 0 to 100 ft right of
centerline.
Rockbreakers drilled shot holes on the LOB Delivery Road cut between stations 0+75 (+/-) to
2+00 (+/-), approximately 40 to 50 feet left of centerline. This area was shot on Thursday.
Rockbreakers used between one and four Tamrock track mounted drill rigs to complete the
drilling.
B) Cut to Fill
1) LOB Delivery Road
Oversize material was placed beyond the end of the LOB Delivery Road (beyond station
44+47.34).
Finish grading of the entire LOB Delivery Road width was performed between stations 4+00
(+/-) and 14+00 (+/-). Finer grained materials from the Delivery Road cut areas were placed in
4" to 12" lifts using a CAT D-8 dozer.
2) LOB Conveyor Corridor/Transfer Station
Backfilling of the Transfer Station #5 retaining wall was completed. Structural backfill
material was hauled to the Transfer Station #5 pad using available 40-ton articulating haul
trucks. The material was placed in 6" compacted lifts using a CAT 966 front-end loader and a
CAT 320 excavator. The material was moisture conditioned and compacted using a CAT 563
vibratory smooth drum roller and a walk-behind vibratory sheep's foot compactor. Density
testing was not performed due to the material being too coarse. Finer material (2" minus) from
the Arequa Process Stockpile was hauled and placed against the structure. The material was
placed in 6" compacted lifts using a CAT 966 front-end loader and a CAT 320 excavator. Each
lift was moisture conditioned and compacted using a walk-behind vibratory sheep's foot
compactor. A berm was placed over the remaining exposed portion of the wall to protect the
structure from blasting near the area. Eleven nuclear density tests were performed with results
averaging 97% of maximum dry density and at or near optimum moisture content. Moisture-
density compaction testing was performed in accordance with ASTM D-1557-07. Nuclear
density testing was performed in accordance with ASTM D-2922 & 3017.
Drilling of a blast pattern just north of the Transfer Station #5 began using one track mounted
drill rig. The blast between Transfer Stations #5 and #6 is scheduled next week.
C) LOB Pad Structural Fill
No work performed throughout the week.
D) MSE Walls
1) MSE Wall #2
Construction of MSE Wall #2 was completed this week. Hilfiker Wall Backfill material was
hauled up to the LOB Pad area using available 40-ton articulating haul trucks, loaded by a
CAT 966 front-end loader. The material was then delivered to the wall using a CAT 966 front-
end loader and spread into 8" compacted lifts. The material was moisture conditioned and
Sheet 2 of 9
LOB Weekly Report WE 05.30.09.D.doc
