The Structural Fill material was placed and compacted between stations K10+00
(+/-) to K4+00 (+/-) right and left of centerline 40-feet. One Cat D-8 dozer was used to spread
the structural fill in 18 to 24-inch lifts (based on rock size). The fill was moisture conditioned
using a water truck. Compaction was, achieved using a CAT 563 vibratory smooth drum
compactor to pass over the entire fill surface at least 4 times. Ambient temperatures remained
above 32°F during fill placement.
3) Sediment Collection Pond
Additional Structural Fill was placed along the west side of the pond. Soil Liner Fill was
placed in the pond bottom and placed on the slopes later in the week. 40-Ton articulating haul
trucks were used to transport the Soil Liner Fill to the sediment pond. The Soil Liner Fill
stockpile from Arequa Process area was used which was augmented with bentonite (material
left over from Phase IV). The remaining Soil Liner Fill was hauled from the South Cresson
Clay Process stockpile. One CAT D-6 Dozer was used to spread the Soil Liner Fill in a 16"
loose lifts. No compaction efforts were performed during the week. AMEC observed the
placement of the Soil Liner Fill. An AMEC representative obtained two samples of the Soil
Liner Fill material. '
E) Subgrade Preparation
1) VLF
No work performed during the week.
2) Sediment Collection Pond
Work on the remaining pond slopes was completed early in the week.
F) Material Processing
1) South Cresson Clay Process
Soil Liner Fill production for the VLF continued at the South Cresson Clay Process area.
Sheet 2 of 7
VLF Weekly Report WE 05.09.09.D
