amen
Earth & Environmental
B) Cut to Fill
1) LOB Delivery Road
Fill containing greater than 24" particles was placed between stations 34+00 (+/-) and 40+00
(+/-) to complete the LOB Delivery Road to grade. Night work: Cut from stations 33 +00 (+/-)
to 26+00 (+/-) to fill from stations 42+00 (+/-) tying into the existing haul road.
2) LOB Conveyor Corridor
Structural fill placement was completed at Transfer Station #6 and adjacent conveyor corridor.
Structural fill material was spread in 18 to 24" lifts (depending on rock size) and moisture
conditioned using a CAT D6 dozer and 773 water truck. Compaction efforts were performed
using a CAT 563 vibratory smooth drum compactor passing over the entire surface of each lift
at least 4 times. This process was performed in accordance with the method specification and a
previously established test fill. Structural fill material was hauled from the LOB Delivery Road
cut areas using 40-Ton articulating haul trucks. Ambient temperatures were monitored during
fill placement.
Structural backfill was completed at Transfer Station #4 retaining wall and pad. Fill was placed
per CEntry specifications in 6 to 8-inch loose lifts, and compacted to a minimum of 95% of
Modified Proctor (ASTM D-1557) using a walk-behind compactor next to the structure.
Moisture contents were at or near optimum. The remaining area of the pad was filled using
Structural Fill in accordance with AMEC specifications. The structural Fill was placed in 24"
lifts and moisture conditioned prior to compaction efforts. A CAT smooth drum vibratory
roller passed over the entire lift surface a minimum of 4 passes. Both fill materials were placed
using one CAT 966 loader and one CAT D-6 dozer. AMEC monitored the placement of the
fill and ambient temperatures were monitored.
Approximately 70 cubic yards of transit mixed concrete was placed for the retaining wall at
Transfer Station #5. Field physical properties results were, 5.5-inch slump and an air content
of 7.0% (Testing performed by Ground Engineering). AMEC cast three concrete cylinders for
Quality Assurance testing.
C) LOB Pad Drain Cover Fill
1) Placement
Drain Cover Fill placement was completed on the LOB Pad. A D6R LGP dozer was used to
spread the Drain Cover Fill in a 24" lift. One CAT smooth drum roller was used to compact the
entire surface of Drain Cover Fill a minimum of four passes (static). An AMEC representative
monitored Drain Cover Fill constantly during placement. Two additional record samples
(LOBDCF-2 and 3-R) were obtained during placement. Survey data was obtained for thickness
verification.
D) LOB Pad Structural Fill
1) Placement
Structural Fill was hauled from the LOB Delivery Road cut using available 40-Ton articulating
haul trucks to the LOB Pad. Structural Fill was placed in 24" lifts using one CAT D6R LGP
dozer. The fill was moisture conditioned using a water truck. Compaction was achieved using
Sheet 2 of 10
LOB Weekly Report WE 05.09.09.D
