•
8.0 ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND PROTECTION
AMSO personnel and their contractors are committed to a comprehensive and diligent
environmental protection policy. All HMSO employees and their contractors will strictly adhere
to environmental policy as stated in this health and safety program. All work shall adhere to
federal, state, and local environmental regulations applicable to the site and all other
stipulations as mandated by the site owner.
Contract companies and their personnel shall respect and refrain from degrading natural
environmental conditions and must act responsibility in order to protect the environment from
adverse effects resulting from activities and work they perform on AMSO locations. They must
also minimize any adverse impact that may arise from such activities and work on these
locations.
All work and maintenance must be completed in a manner to prevent contamination of land
sites, surface waters, and subterranean fresh water zones through the use of good industry
practices.
8.1 Spill Prevention, Containment, and Countermeasures
The following spill prevention, containment, and countermeasures (SPCC) requirements apply.
If required by the terms of government environmental regulations for the storage of bulk
materials, or rules designated by the site owner, contractors must develop a Spill
Prevention, Containment and Countermeasures (SPCC) plan.
+ All spills, no matter how small, shall be reported to the AMSO Field Supervisor.
• If a spill occurs during the course of work, the contractor must immediately if possible
and safe to do so, shut off the source of the spill, contain the spill, and begin cleanup.
