. a Impact-type goggles and face shields will be worn when chipping, scraping, <br />buffing, grinding, hammering, using compressed air, or any such activity which <br />could release particles into the air. <br />• Splash proof chemical goggles and face shields will be worn when handling <br />hazardous chemicals, liquids, powders or vapors including cleaning materials, <br />battery acids, glycol and caustics. <br />a Welding and cutting operations require specific eye and face protection such as <br />welding hoods and/or cutting goggles. <br />Hand Protection: <br />• Leather or leather-palmed gloves when handling wire rope. <br />Cloth gloves when handling pipe. <br />Appropriate chemical Resistant gloves for handling hydrocarbons, acids, caustic soda, <br />and soda ash. <br />Insulated or heat-resistant gloves when handling steam hoses or when performing other <br />duties in which regular work gloves do not afford burn protection. <br />Appropriately insulated gloves when working in cryogenic operations (LPG, nitrogen, <br />CO_). <br />. Special certified gloves for electrical work. <br />• <br />Head Protection: <br />Hardhat (required when performing activities involving overhead hazards) meeting <br />ANSI Z89.1-1997 (Class G and E) standards are to be used by all visitors, AMSO <br />employees and subcontractors when outside of a vehicle, piece of ROPs protected <br />equipment, or a building at field locations. <br />• Metal hard hats are prohibited. <br />Hard hats should not be painted or excessively covered with stickers as this can hide <br />cracks and defects. <br />Hard hat exteriors should be kept clean and regularly inspected for cracks and defects. <br />Hard hats should be replaced if cracked or defective. <br />The hard hat's suspension should be properly installed and nothing should be in the <br />webbing- <br />Hearing Protection: <br />
