• <br />6.0 PERSONAL. PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br />It is anticipated that a Level D Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); at a minimum, will be <br />required for personnel performing work on AMS© job sites. Level D PPE is required when <br />potential skin hazards are minimal and no respiratory protection is needed. The following <br />constitutes Level D PPE: <br />• Safety vests (required when working in the vicinity of heavy equipment and roadways) <br />• Coveralls or appropriate field clothing. <br />Foot Protection: <br />• Wear footwear appropriate for site conditions and activities being performed. <br />Protective footwear (i.e., steel-toed safety shoes) must be when working in areas where <br />there is a danger of foot injuries from falling or rolling objects, objects that pierce the <br />sole, and where the feet maybe exposed to electrical hazards. <br />• Safety shoes or boots must meet the ANSI Z.41-Class 75 standard. <br />• Tennis or canvas shoes or sandals are prohibited in all work areas. <br />• Safety footwear should have a 3/8" heel <br />Eye/Force Protection: <br />• Safety glasses (required when performing activities that present the potential for injury <br />to the eyes). <br />• . All visitors and contractors are required to wear protective eyewear with sideshields <br />when outside of a vehicle, piece of enclosed equipment, or building at field locations. <br />• Safety glasses and sidesheilds must meet the ANSI Z87.1-1989 standard. <br />• Many operations require more protection for the eyes and face than is normally <br />provided by safety glasses.
