State Rea.
• 4.03.1(3) Haul roads not within disturbance areas, (see F~d'ii.bit 12-1),
will be designed and constructed or reconstructed in
compliance with the following stan9axds in oxrler to control
erosion aryl disturbance of the hydrologic balance.
4.03.1(3)(a)2he vertical aligrmrnt of the haul roads at the Seneca II
Mine will not exceed 10 percent on the overall grade. rwYi,m,m
pitch grade will not exceed 15 percent, and there will not be
mare than 300 feet of pitch grade exceeding 10 percent within
any consecutive 1,000 feet (see F]chi.bit 12-1 for existing and
PruPosed grades)
4.03.1(3)(b)Zhe horizontal alignment will be consistent with the
existing and postmining topography and will be oooxrlinated
with the vertical alignment to ensure that the roads will not
cause excessive environmental damage.
• During road constYVCtion, Peabody will provide a number of
temporary erosion control mea~~s. Dapa~_*~ largely on the
locati~t of the road, one or a ccmibination of the methods
shown below will be e~loyed.
a. straw dikes or silt fence will be placed in drainages to
reduce the sediment load off site.
b. Diversion ditches or berms will be constructed above the
construction area to divert runoff around the area.
c. Diversion or check dams will be wnstruc,-ted if needed to
slag dawn or temporarily impound runoff.
After construction is c~npleted, all structures, when no
longer needed, will be removed and the area reclaimed.
• 4.03.1(3) Road cut slopes will not be steeper than 1v:1.5h in
12-25 Revised 10/01/86
