State Reo.
federal law. The location of all existing and proposed roads •
are shown on Exhibit 7-7 and 12-1.
4.03.1(2) Location. There are approximately 10.6 miles of existing haul
roads at the Seneca Mine and over the next five years there
are no new haulage roads planne3 outside of the estimated
disturbance area, (see Exhibit 12-1). The haul roads at the
mine site are designed with appropriate ditches, grades, and
culverts to control erasion and ivnoff. All haul roads will
be constructed basically "on~rade" and the location will be
partially limited by the grades of the existing or postmining
areas. Stream fords will not be used during construction of
roads unless approval is first obtained from the Division.
All truck traffic will be routed to enter the pits at the
upper elevation end and leave the pits at the lower elevation
end. The haul roads in the Wolf Creek area pit will be built
prior to mining and reclaimed as the roads are mined or when •
the roads are no longer needed. The haul roads in the wadge
pit will be extended through the spoil and road wnstruction
will progress with the mining activity. Reclamation of these
roads will occur at the end of the life of the mine.
2.05.3(1)(c)Design aril Construction. The design of the haul roads
4.03.1(3) incorporates the demand for mobility and travel efficiency,
based on the geometric criteria appropriate for the
anticipated volume of traffic, weight, and speed of the
vehicles to be utilized. The design and construction or
reconstruction of haul roads not within the estimated
disturbed area will be certified by a registered professional
engineer, if r~sired by the CNIII?B for good cause shown. In
these disc.~ussions recanting roads, reference to estimated
disturbed areas or disturbance areas refers to areas estimated
to be disturbed by the actual mining excavation and the
activities associated with reclaiming the mining excavation •
disturbances.
12-24 Revised 12/10/92
