Area 21: Area 21 is located towards the center of the permit area on the east side of reclaimed Pit B. This 3.25 acre area
was seeded in 1997. This area tends to have a higher frequency of Cheatgrass and some vegetation with thinner cover on
the east side of the parcel than on the west side of the parcel. The vegetative cover and composition on the west side of the
parcel is good. Visually dominant species are Smooth Bromegrass and Crested wheatgrass. No noxious weed infestations
were identified that require control. [Cheatgrass in on the C list of the Colorado Noxious Weed List. However,C list species
are recognized as noxious species but do not require immediate control.] (Photo 5)
Area 18: Area 18 is located-south of reclaimed Pit B. Area 18 was seeded in 1997 and consists or 8.6 acres. The vegetative
cover and diversity in Area 18 appear very good with Smooth Bromegmss and Blue grams the visually dominant species.
(Photo 6)
Photo 7: Area 17 looking west Photo 8: Area 20 looking north
Area 17: Area 17, 13.01 acres, was seeded in 1987 and reflects a well established community. Although some annual
species, annual mustard, and Cheatgrass are present, the perennial species,Western wheatgrass, and Wild rye are well
established. The area exhibits good cover and diversity. (Photo 7)
Area 20: Area 20 was seeded in 1986 and together with Area 22 encompasses 16.57 aces. In 2008, a third party, PDC,
constructed a gas well and associated facilities on a portion of Area 20. The portion of this parcel containing the well and
gas extraction facilities has received a post-mining land use of industrial, and is not subject to the same revegetation
requirements as the portions of the parcel with a post-mining land use of rangeland. The rangeland portions of Area 20 are
in good condition with no weedy patches or erosion features. (Photo 8)
Page-5_uf_91Pages,(date) tarzaw(lmtlais) .ho
