AWOL
amec
Earth & Environmental
B) Cut to Fill
1) LOB Delivery Road
Between stations 14+00 (+/-) and 16+00 (+/-) the LOB Delivery Road is to grade. Night work:
Cut from stations 30 +00 (+/-) to 26+00 (+/-) to fill between stations 42+00 (+/-) to 44+50 (+/-)
has started.
2) LOB Conveyor Corridor
Structural fill placement during the week was completed at Transfer Station #4 and #6. The
structural fill material was spread in 24" lifts using a CAT D6 dozer and compacted using a
CAT 563 vibratory smooth drum compactor passing over the entire surface of the lift at least 4
times. This process was performed in accordance with the method specification and a
previously established test fill. Structural fill material was hauled from the LOB Delivery Road
cut areas using the Volvo A40D haul trucks. Ambient and fill temperatures were monitored
during fill placement. No frozen materials were placed.
The remaining cut at Transfer Station #5 was completed.
The retaining wall footing for Transfer Station #5 and the gravity take-up columns located at
station 0+00 were formed and reinforcing steel was placed. Approximately 40 cubic yards of
transit mixed concrete was placed at both locations with a 4.25-inch slump and an air content
of 5.0% (Field physical properties testing performed by Ground Engineering). AMEC cast
three concrete cylinders for Quality Assurance testing.
C) LOB Pad Drain Cover Fill
1) Placement
After geomembrane acceptance, Drain Cover Fill placement was performed during the week
starting at the bottom of the 5H: IV slope adjacent to Phase IV VLF. A D6R LGP dozer was
used to spread the Drain Cover Fill in a 24" lift. An AMEC representative monitored Drain
Cover Fill constantly during placement. Prior to placing the Drain Cover Fill, 23-feet of 6-inch
CPT perforated drain pipe was installed along the north berm tying into the pipe from the
Phase IV VLF. An additional 100-feet of 4-inch perforated drain pipe was installed along the
Phase IV and LOB Pad tie-in. The pipe was attached to the existing 4" CPT pipe from the
Phase IV VLF. All installed CPT piping was covered during the placement of Drain Cover Fill.
After the 5H: IV slope placement was complete, placement was performed from the corner
working south. One record sample (LOBDCF-I-R) was obtained during placement. Placement
of Drain Cover Fill will continue into next week.
D) MSE Walls
1) MSE Wall
No work performed during the week.
E) AGOSA (Arequa Gulch Overburden Storage Area) Material Processing
Material processing was performed intermittently throughout the week.
Sheet 2 of 10
LOB Weekly Report WE 05.02.09.D.doc
