amec'
Earth & Environmental
D) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
Suitable structural fill material during the week from the LOB Delivery Road cut from between
stations 33+00 (+/-) to 26+50 (+/-), 15+50 (+/-) to 17+00 (+/-) and 2+00 (+/-) to 4+00 (+/-)
was hauled to the VLF using all haulage equipment (CAT 777 and Volvo A40D). The
structural fill material was placed and compacted between stations L2+00 (+/-) to L8+00 (+/-)
approximately 75 to 225-feet left of centerline and between stations B 10+00 (+/-) to B14+00
(+/-) at or near centerline to 100-feet right of centerline. One Cat D-8 dozer was used to spread
the structural fill in 24" lifts. Compaction was achieved using a 563 vibratory smooth drum
compactor to pass over the entire fill surface at least 4 times. Ambient and fill temperatures
were monitored during fill placement. No frozen materials were placed.
2) VLF, PSSA Haul Road
Suitable structural fill material during the week from the LOB Delivery Road cut from between
stations 4+00 (+/-) to 2+00 (+/-) and 15+50 (+/-) to 17+00 (+/-) was hauled to the VLF using
all haulage equipment (CAT 777 and Volvo A40D). The structural fill material was placed and
compacted between stations K10+00 (+/-) to K7+00 (+/-) at or near centerline to 100-feet left
of centerline. One Cat D-8 dozer was used to spread the structural fill material. One Cat D-8
dozer was used to spread the structural fill in 24" lifts. Compaction was achieved using a 563
vibratory smooth drum compactor to pass over the entire fill surface at least 4 times. Ambient
and fill temperatures were monitored during fill placement. No frozen materials were placed.
3) Sediment Collection Pond
Additional fill has been placed periodically during the week in the pond bottom.
E) Subgrade Preparation
1) VLF
No work performed during the week.
2) Sediment Collection Pond
Suitable structural fill from the LOB Delivery road cut was hauled intermittently to the
sediment pond for completion of the pond floor to design subgrade elevation. The fill was
spread in 24" loose lifts with a Cat D-6 dozer and compacted using a 563 vibratory smooth
drum compactor passing over the entire lift surface at least 4 times.
F) Material Processing
1) South Cresson Clay Process
Soil Liner Fill production for the VLF continued at the South Cresson Clay Process.
