Cut to Fill
1. VLF
Structural fill has been on going both shifts during the week in the VLF from
approximate Stations K10+00 to K5+00 approximately 0 to 150-feet left of centerline.
Fill is being hauled from the LOB Delivery Road cut area and from the excavated
material from the sediment pond. Benching each subsequent lift to remove any frozen
or unsuitable material was conducted using a Cat D-6 dozer while the fill progresses.
All fill placed as per method specification outlined in the Project Specifications. Fill
temperature checks during the week for project compliance are recorded. A temporary
access route completed between stations K5+00 (+/-) to K3+00 (+/-) and approximately
50 to 250 feet left of centerline will re route traffic into the mine.
2. VLF, PSSA Haul Road
Between stations K10+00 (+/-) and K4+50 (+/-), the structural fill is complete. Fill
placed by method specification, compacting with a smooth drum vibratory roller.
3. Sediment Collection Pond
On Monday, Volvo and CAT 777' haul trucks transported cut from the sediment pond
to the VLF fill area. Haul trucks are loaded by a Komatsu 800-track excavator.
E. Subgrade Preparation
1. VLF
Scarified and ripped areas south approximately 0 to 200 feet from centerline of the
North Crest PSSA Road between stations F10+00 (+/-) and F8+00 (+/-) in preparation
for structural fill placement next week.
2.
