amec,O
Earth & Environmental
AMEC worked Friday day in the laboratory and office.
Testing Summary
Testing has continued this past week with additional samples of clay gathered from Dump 5, South
Crescent clay storage and from a stockpile of augmented clay with bentonite from the previous Phase of
construction. This sample is located in the Arequa Process area. Permeability testing is in progress on
samples sent last week. This week there has been good progress on the laboratory work. Tentative results
of SLF-8, 9 and 12 indicate the fastest result is 7E-07 @ +2% and run at 5 PSI. Additional samples have
been sent to Denver for permeability testing.
Earthworks Testing
Sample ID Comments
SF-1-R, SF-2 R in progress
SLF-8,9,12,13C 17-20C Unprocessed/processed clay: in progress
PBM-1-R Pipe bedding, Complete
GENERAL PROJECT ITEMS
Summary of Concerns:
No Concerns
Summary of Non-conformances:
None Issued
Summary of Meetings and Discussions:
CC& V.•
CC&V held a Weekly Contractors' meeting on March 10, 2009. Items discussed included Safety,
Environmental, Schedule, QC documentation, and CQA.
Discussions with Tom on fill placement during periods of snow and cold due to the concerns of CC&V
personnel at night. Reference Technical Specifications: Earthworks Section 02200, 3.06 fill Placement,
A. General Guidelines, and Paragraph 10. Soil temperatures were measured Friday morning (8-readings,
throughout the fill) high of 50° F to a low of 38° F, average mean temperature of 41° F. In addition,
referenced that all snow must be removed prior to placing fill, and, all "smooth" surfaces must be scarified
a minimum of 2-inches prior to subsequent lifts.
Other Items discussed were to forward on a weekly basis to CC&V a spread sheet to include all laboratory
test results as they are completed and to increase the permeability testing to 4-samples per week (in
progress). Additionally, a daily report shows a man-hour budget including daily hours, % man-hour
budget complete, VS man-hour budget and man-hours remaining. This is designed to be a tracking tool for
AMEC and CC&V, (now in progress).
Sheet 4 of 8 VLF Weekly Report WE 03.14.09.D
