GENERAL SITE CONDITIONS:
The site is located approximately fifteen miles north and east
of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado to the northwest of the
Public Service Power Generating Plar:t. The site is approximately
one mile to the northeast of the present course of the Colorado River.
The site is in the lower portion of a drainage known as
and is located to the southwest of the bottom of the drainage. The
site is in the Southeast Quarter of Section 28, Township 10 South,
Range 98 West, of the 6th Principal Meridian. This location is shown
on the enclosed Site Location Map.
Topographically, the site of the proposed waste pile occupies a
small basin-like feature on the side of the Coal Canyon drainage.
This feature is located off the "nose" of a long ridge-like feature
~~ with approximately north/northeast to south/southwest lineation. ~n
r~c_.,.,s cam,-~c- ,,;-l-o =. ;.-c cmm~_,~ i~c~+od~ the majgy~ty.._of the sA~'~''- 1i ~~ _~ ;.kP
~+-c.b~s r-m +.+h i-~ ~ ~~T^, +_~~~~'~ b~~~ ~ 1.1 ~ i mi I-c. n f the
gp~le. The vast majority of the drainage from the higher ground above
the pile will be carried around the pile location, either in Coal
Gulch to the north and west of the pile or in another small drainage
located to the soutY of the pile.
The pile itself will be made using coal processing waste from
the GEX Colorado Cameo Mine. The material to be used will principally
consist of fine particles of coal and carbonaceous rock, mixed with
larger particles of "gange rock". A preliminary plan and cross-section
of the pile has beer: forwarded to ROCKY MOUNTAIN GEOTECHNICAL. The
preliminary contours indicate slope angles of roughly 3.3:1 and a
maximum elevation for the pile of approximately 4880 mean sea level.
The anticipated storage of the pile is to be approximately 1.5 million
cubic yards.
