~~
SUMMA RI'
Project Location: "'-~^=,..,~,.'~ :~ X~CamP~-
about 15 miles north anc: east of Grand
Junction, Colorado.
Project Description: Coal processing waste storage pile.
Slope Stability Analysis: Based upon computer-assisted
analysis, the slope configuration
provided to ROCKY MOUN'PAIN GEOTECHNIC'AL, having 3.3:1
side slopes and a crest elevation of about 4980, will be
stable, witY a minimum factor of safety of 2.302. A
somewhat steeper and higher slope configuration could
also be used.
Pile Storage Volume Optimization: Again using computer-
assisted analysis, tine
slope configuration yielding the maximum storage was
fcund to consist of ~•' --'°~~- ~ * '^ -~.~de
horizontal benches at 3.6~;--ve~rtica-1 -spacing, with a
crest elevation of 5025. This configuration had an
average slope gradient of 2.3:1, and a minimum factor
of safety of about 1.7, The storage volume of this
pile configuration will be about 2,240,000 cubic yards.
Additional discussion and more complete recommendations are
included in the body of this report. Slope cross-sections,
recommended pile contours, and other pertinent information
are included in the Appendix. AlI recommendations are subject
to the limitations contained herein.
