Appendix A - Vegetation Sampling for Phase III Bond Release
• triple the sampled value on the Rangeland Reference Area (4.01 grams). Thus, the herbaceous production
density on the Rangeland Reclaimed Area easily exceeds the 90 percent standard when compared with the
Rangeland Reference Area in 2005. Refer to Tables A-12 and A-13 for a summary of the data collected
on the Rangeland sampling units with and without the undesirable component, respectively. Tables A-18,
A-19, A-20, and A-21 display the results of the 2006 sampling event for production on each plot in each
sampling area.
Density calculations (lbs/acre) are based on the resulting total "dry" weights. The mean production
density for the Irrigated Pasture Reclaimed Area during the year 2005 sampling event, established on the
AVF Reference Area, is 2,018 lbs/acre. The sampled production density on the Irrigated Pasture
Reclaimed Area is 1,821.9 lbs/acre, or 90.3 percent of the production density sampled on the AVF
Reference Area. The estimated production density on the Irrigated Pasture Reclaimed Area exceeds the
90 percent standard when compared with the AVF Reference Area.
The mean production density standard for the Rangeland Reclaimed Area during the year 2005 sampling
event, established on the Rangeland Reference Area, is 356.2 lbs/acre. The estimated production density
on the Rangeland Reclaimed Area is 1,177.3 lbs/acre. The estimated production density on the Rangeland
Reclaimed Area easily exceeds the 90 percent standard required when compared with the Rangeland
Reference Area.
A statistical comparison of 2005 dry-weight production data collected on 0.1 square meter plots in the
Rangeland Reclaimed Area and the Rangeland Reference Area was conducted after removing the
undesirable component. The one-tailed reverse null hypothesis t-test produced the following result with
90% confidence when using a sample size of 15:
.
