There is no demolition
activities anticipated for 2009.
2.0 Other Activities
2.1 Biosolids
This activity continued throughout the year in 2008 as in the past; however, Class B
composting operations were discontinued starting January 1, 2008. Land applications
were conducted with dozers and aerial spreaders (truck mounted blower). The 2008
annual biosolids report is included as Appendix I.
2.2 Dust Control
Annual dust control activities continued in 2008 as in past years, with an emphasis on
Tenmile Tailing Pond. Rehabilitation work in the tunnel mandated that the decant on
Tenmile be taken off-line. This was accomplished through the use of a temporary bypass
pump station. The surface area of the water pool on Tenmile Tailing Pond was also
lowered, exposing additional beach area. This exposed area was treated with a new
product (pine tar) which was applied by a pump truck and hose sprayers. Haul roads in
various locations were also treated with the new product with mixed results.
2.3 2008 DMG Inspection
Mr. Allen Sorenson inspected Climax on two separate occasions. On July 31, 2008 the
areas of inspection included the construction of the new mill building, Arkansas Lake
Utility Line, Robinson Lake Sediment Removal and Ten Mile Tunnel Rehabilitation. A
second inspection by Mr. Sorenson was conducted on September 25, 2008. Areas of
inspection included the Tailing Delivery Line (TDL), Arkansas River Reclamation
through the Storke Yard, Robinson Tailing Pond Reclamation and Robinson Lake Mill
water reclaim pipeline.
