Paragraph 3 "Will all slurry walls be installed for Stages 2-5 at the same time prior to mining, or in
sequence prior to disturbing a specific Stage? "
Applicant's Response:
Slurry walls for mining Stages 2-5 will be installed at the same time prior to mining.
6.4.5 EXHIBIT E-Reclamation Plan
"The plan as submitted does not specify the thickness of topsoil to be replaced in areas above the
post-reclamation water level. Because the site should have a large surplus of salvaged topsoil, the
Division would recommend at least a minimum of 12 inches of topsoil be replaced. "
All Pit Perimeter slopes will be no steeper than 3H: 1 V.
Applicant's Response:
A minimum of 12 inches of topsoil will be placed over affected lands during reclamation.
"Also no information is given as to the size and type of trees that will be replaced in the Stage I area
to correspond with those shown on the Reclamation Plan Map, please provide this information.
Applicant's Response:
No existing trees in Stage 1 will be removed during mining. Trees and shrubs shown on the
Reclamation Plan drawing are for graphic purposes only. Typically, volunteer cottonwoods, peach
leaf willows and coyote willows colonize wash fines settling ponds. The Applicant proposes to use
colonized trees and shrubs as part of the reclamation of Stage 1.
6.4.6 EXHIBIT G- Water Information
Paragraph I "Please specify where the additional monitoring wells described in Section 8.2 will be
installed. "
Applicant's Response:
The location of the additional ground water monitoring wells is shown on the attached revised
Mining Plan drawing (Exhibit "D").
Paragraph 2 "Please be aware that you will need to commit to not exposing groundwater until the
Substitute Supply Plan is approved... "
3/3/2009
