1.1 acre is the total disturbance of the new pit area staff has concerns that the commitment to concurrent
reclamation cannot be achieved. Please clarify that concurrent reclamation will not be disturbed by current
mining activities or remove the concurrent reclamation proposal from the plan.
No details are given in regard to the ore bin area. The area should be isolated from all unauthorized vehicles.
It is understood that the bins have stormwater controls for 100% retention. However truck loading and other ore
handling activities require that the area have zero run-off as well. Please submit detailed plans noting what
activities will take place, how big of an area will be designated for these activities and stormwater controls
specific to this area.
Section 3, Exploration:
Please note that exploration within the permit area is considered mining activities. There is not enough detail to
accurately project total disturbance and a reclamation liability. There are references within the reclamation plan
of such disturbances. Please outline in the mine plan how many drill holes are proposed and their typical
characteristics. How many and locations of all mine features that will be disturbed in the exploration project?
What will the extent of those disturbances be? Please clarify any discrepancies between the mining and
reclamation plans.
Section 4, Surface Facilities:
As noted above San Miguel Power Lines are referenced here. It is stated that the power lines are parallel to and
south of the permit boundary as well as over 200 feet. This is conflict with statements in the Introduction.
Please Clarify.
The mine plan and -map note a berm around the office / ore bin area. However no other details are provided in
regard to storm water structures. Will there be structures such as ditches and retention ponds constructed? If so
they must be demonstrated to meet rule 7.3.1(3).
The detail of the ore bin structure appears to be well designed. However the stormwater retention from this
structure appears to be less thought out. Please provide a detail of how the 55 gallon barrel will be incorporated
into the retention of stormwater that falls on the structure. It must be demonstrated that it can handle the storm
event as outlined in Rule 7.3.1(3). While the covering of the ore pile with tarps is understood to be a good
theoretical practice the execution of such a plan 100% of the time is suspect. All stormwater calculations and
structures will be required to meet the retention of 100 % of the uncovered area for the event outlined in Rule
7.3.1(3).
Section 7, Surface Drainage Structures:
Please note that all drainage structures for a DMO must meet the requirements of Rule 7.3.1(3). The structures
must be identified on all maps as well. Please clarify that all structures have been identified and meet the
requirements.
