Seed Bed Preparation and Application of Fertilizer
Prior to reseeding, all areas disturbed by the operation will be disced, or
similarly worked, in order to provide for an adequate seed bed. Chemical fertilizer will
be worked into the soil at the time of the seed bed preparation.
Seed Mixture and Seeding Rates
The proposed seed mixture for seeding disturbed areas consists of a diverse
mixture of grasses and wildflower mix prepared by staff of the Natural Resources
Conservation Service (NRCS). Attached is a copy of form CO-ECS-S prepared by
Leon Kot of the NRCS in September of 1997. Preference will be given to seeding
using a Truax-type of range drill if possible. The proposed mixture appears below and
'is based on a drilled density of 40 PLS/ft.2. Where a range drill cannot be used, the
seeding rates will be doubled and the seed broadcast. Where broadcast seeded, the
seed will be covered by mechanical methods in attempt to give approximately 0.25 to
0.5 inch of cover.
RECLAMATION SEED MIXTURE
Drilled Rate
Grass Species % of Mix Pounds PLS/Ac.
Sheep Fescue (cover) 35 14.0
Western Wheatgrass (Arriba) 20 3.2
Smooth Brome (Lincoln or Manchar) 20 3.2
Canada Bluegrass 20 0.8
"Rocky Mountain Wildflower Mixes 5
Total 100 21.2
-9-
