Specifications Contd. <br />b) Moisture and Compaction -See Secs <br />4.b) and c) <br />7. Emergency Spillway - <br />a) Excavation -All excavatior. will be done to the lines dnd <br />elevations shov,n on the plans. Work on the emergency spill- <br />way will be executed. in conjunction with the erection of the <br />embankment. Iviatertals removed during excavation that meet <br />• the specifications of the embankment zones will be placed <br />in those zones. At station 3+55 the emergency spillway crosses <br />an existing drainage where upon the drainage will be back- <br />filled and diked to prevent erosion of the spillway at that <br />point: _ :Any. fill required along fhe spillway will be done in <br />accordance with Secs. S. a) and 5, b). <br />~. <br />b) Cobblestone - All cobblestone will be placed as shown and <br />all cobblestone uvill be grouted. The cobblestone will be sized <br />4 to 6 inches and uniformly placed one layer in depth. <br />i) Grout -All grout used to tack .cobblestones or grout <br />used on any application will meet the following; <br />~~ <br /> <br />' Per Yard - 750 lbs cement <br />900 lbs 3/8" chipped stone <br />2200 lbs sand . <br />45 gal. water <br />4 oz, air <br />8. Rip-rap - <br />a) Quality -Rip-rap used on any application will meet the <br />following; Individual rock fragments will be dense, sound; <br />and resistant to abrasion and shall be free from cracks, <br />seams, and other defects that would tend to increase unduly <br />their destruction by water and frost actions. <br />b) Placing - The rip-rap need not be compacted but will be placed <br />to grade in a manner to insure that the larger rock fragments <br />are uniformly distributed and the smaller roc: fragments serve <br />to fill the spaces between the largec roc}; fragments in suet <br />a manner as will result in v~ell-keyed, densely placed, uniform <br />layers of rip-rap of the specified thickness.
