However, a
current list of rare, threatened, and endangered plant and animal species that are known to occur within
a two-mile radius of the study area was solicited from the Colorado Natural Heritage Program (CNHP)
(see Appendix B). A search of the CNHP database revealed only a single taxon, a reptile species (Co/uber
constrictor mormon- western yellowbelly racer), that had been previously located within the search area
(approximately 42 square miles). This single rare species, the western yellowbelly racer, was routinely
observed in the Bottomland Community type by Cedar Creek biologists.
t* (X -x,)l (S21In) +(522/n2)
:where :
x, mean of the baseline area
x ,. = mean of the reference area
s2 = variance of the baseline area
s , variance of`the reference area
2
n = sample size for the baseline area
n2 = sample size for the reference area
[(S,2 /nI)t,,l + (s22 /n2)t,1211(6,2 /n, + s22 /n2)
where
d = 0.05 level
Furthermore, all plant species observed during field surveys by Cedar Creek in 2005 were identified
and cross-referenced with the Colorado Rare Plant Field Guide. No rare threatened or endangered plant
species were observed in 2005 or have previously been observed within the study area.
