Mr. G. Russell Means
Re: Camilletti Pit Amendment, Adequacy Letter Response
December 19, 2008
3. Per Rule 6.2.1(2)(b) all maps must be signed by a registered land surveyor, professional
engineer, or other qualified person, given date prepared and identify and outline the area
which corresponds with the application. Staff notes no signatures on any maps. Also
present maps do not clearly show the permit boundaries. They.show lease and.parcel
boundaries. Some areas.currently disturbed appear to be outside of parcel boundaries
and the permit. The fuel tanks and reclamation currently identifiable on the maps appear
to be outside boundaries. Please clearly define permit and affected area boundaries on
all maps and required signatures.
All maps have been revised to include professional engineer signatures, and have
also been revised to include a detailed description of the permit boundaries. The
revised maps are included as an attachment to this letter.
The fuel tank identified on the original submission was used for other operations
in the area, However, the tank is currently empty and will be moved within the
mining limits in anticipation of removal from the site during the first quarter of
2009. The disturbed :area that was observed was the result of previous operations
in approximately 1987, prior to Connell Resources taking over the mining
operations. This discrepancy has been addressed in previous inspections.
4. 64.2 -Exhibit B, Index Map is acceptable with the exception of the required signature.
See revised Exhibit B, Vicinity Map, attached.
5. 64.3 -Exhibit C, Pre-Mining and Mining Maps.
(a) Please note all adjoining land owners,
See revised Exhibit C-1 (Existing Conditions) and Exhibit C-2 (Mining Plan)
maps, attached.
6 64.4 -Exhibit D, Mining Plan
(i) Please specify whether any explosives will or will not be used in the course of mining
operations.
Connell Resources does not intend to use explosives in the course of mining
operations.
7. 6.4.5 - Exhibit E, Reclamation Plan
3.1.3: It is noted that reclamation will be done concurrently with mining. However the
site visit and annual reports indicate I acre has been reclaimed of the 16 currently
disturbed. Please clarify how concurrent reclamation is planned for the current
disturbance-as well as furutre when it appears that it has not been followed to date.
Due to the relatively . small area available for mining operations,. much of 'the
reclamation has been restricted to the approximately 1-acre that was observed
