move the pit so it does not encroach on the 200 foot area of the county roadway. The west boundary
will move slightly west to keep the pit at a total area of 9.9 acres
6.3.3 EXHIBIT C - Mining Plan
Section b) You have indicated that only sic inches of topsoil will be salvaged and stockpiled for site
reclamation, however the information in Exhibit B indicates that the upper nine inches of material would
make good growth medium. The Division recommends that the top nine inches of material at the site
be removed, stockpiled and maintained for use in reclamation. This will insure that adequate material is
available for topsoil replacement on slope faces and across the site to a depth that will facilitate
revegetation and speed the final reclamation and release of the site.
Nine inches of existing material will be stockpiled and maintained for use in reclamation, as
recommended by the Division..
Section c) You has not indicated the thickness of the overburden between the topsoil to be
salvaged and the material to be mined, or where this material will be stockpiled. Please address this
issue in the narrative and on the mine plan map. If this material will be sold as product please indicate
this in the mining plan. Also, how will it be disposed of once mining is completed: (i.e., used as backfill by
placing against the remaining slopes prior to topsoil placement, selling as a secondary products etc.)?
The overburden thickness varies. In some areas, it may be as much as 3-4' deep. This material will also
be sold as product There is no plan to stockpile the overburden.
Section Q This would be an excellent place to describe the relationship, if any, between this
proposed operation and the existing Ill permit are (M-2004-0141 immediately adjacent to the south of
this permit. Most of the figures submitted with this application indicate some degree of overlap with
this existing permit, or are vague about the boundaries of these features. This issue will need to be
clarified in this application and included figures and also well marked on the ground to prevent any
future misundi'M-vjndin s.
The intent would be that there is no overlapping. The new Carper Pit #2 is intended to start at the north
end of the existing pit M-2004-014. The point at which they came together
Section m) If any processing; of materials or products is deemed necessary at the site in the future,
it will neM- to lxa approved through a Technical Revision to the permit submitted to DRMS before it is
imp1t!mented.
The Division will be given a Technical Revision if processing is going to occur at the site.
6.3.4 EXHIBIT D - Reclamation Plan
Section a) Please address how remaining overburden, if any, will be handled for the site.
Overburden will be marketed as a secondary product from the pit We do not anticipate any excess
overburden at the site.
2
