This TR request includes the addition of a
sixth sediment collection pond (Pond 0 on attached drawing) and an increase in the size of the
transmittal channel at the Carlton Tunnel Portal. In addition, an HDPE pipe will be installed to
convey water from our flume location to the county road, thus eliminating the open flow of water
down the hillside to the county road. Attached is an arrangement drawing and a couple of cross
section to illustrate the nature of these improvements. Also included is an engineer's assessment
of earthwork and pipe lengths which were used to calculate the proposed financial warranty
adjustment. This work is being completed as part of a stipulation to the Carlton Tunnel CDPS
permit CO-0024562 renewed effective June 1, 2007. Excerpts from the engineering report sent
to CDPHE are included for reference. The purpose of the TR request is to update the financial
warranty associated with the Carlton Tunnel sediment ponds.
Construction of the new pond and transmittal trough are scheduled to begin in January, 2008 and
be completed by May, 2008. This will be a long-term facility and reclamation of these new
