i
32.05
2.05.5
APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SIIRFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING ACTIVITIES --
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND RECLAMATION PLANS.
Postmining Land Uses. (Cont'd,)
provide forage for wildlife and livestock and
maintain a long lasting vegetative cover.
Planted browse species identical to native
vegetation will provide forage for wildlife,
and replacement of pinyon pine and juniper
trees will supply vital habitat for mule deer
and other wildlife species.
Agriculture planting mixtures, as outlined in
Section 2.05.4(e)(ii), are to be used in val-
ley bottom areas best suited for orchard crop-
land. Selected fruit trees parallel past and
present crops of areas with similar potential
productivity.
•
The topography of the reclaimed areas will be
supportive of recreational activities similar
to that which previously existed. Due to
slope and the presence of rock outcrops, lim-
ited activities such as rock climbing and hik-
ing are best suited to the intermediate hills
and high country of the reclaimed mine proper-
ty.
Building site development potential has been
severe due Co slope, instabiliCy of subsurface
soils, seepage, and inaccessibility by conven-
tional means prior to development of the Or-
chard Valley Mine but will be improved Blighty
after abandonment. Access roads at the Or-
chard Valley Mine will be left in place, but
will be suited primarily to Facilitate live-
stock management practices. The existing un-
improved road will remain Following final
abandonment and reclamation of the Orchard
Valley West Mine site to access properties
north of the mine site and maintain the exist-
ing right-ofway.
(ii) Pre-mining and post-mining land use will he
the same.
• Revised 08/01/84
Revised 10/12/86
Revised 10/01/87
82
