42.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR IINDERGROUND MINING ACTIVITIES --
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND RECLAMATION PLANS.
~,
J
2.05.5 Postmining Land Uses. (Cont'd.)
(2) (a) (Cont'd.)
the Phases I and II Stability Analysis Reports in Vol-
ume 6 and the final reclaimed configuration designs
presented in the Final Abandonment Appendix, Volune 6A.
To attain the final reclaimed configuration, a vari-
ance, as provided For in 2.06.5, from approximate orig-
inal contour was granted in the existing permit.
The post-mining land use of the area of the Orchard
Valley West Mine will also be rangeland, as is the area
of the Orchard Valley Mine. Following backfilling and
regrading of the Orchard Valley West Mine bench to the
approximate original contours, the site will be revege-
tated with CWI's permanent reclamation seed mixture.
The proposed post-mining land use is consistent with
the historical land use of the area and the management
plans of the surface owner - Bureau of Land Management
[see Section 2.05.5(2)(a)(iii)]. Refer to sheet 9 of
the Orchard Valley West Portals designs in Volume 6B
and the Vegetation Inventory report in the Vegetation
• Appendix, Volume 9A. The reconstructed portion of the
existing unimproved road will remain following final
abandonment to access properties north of the Orchard
Valley WesC Mine site and maintaining the existing
right-ofway.
(i) Redistribution of topsoil on disturbed areas
~ai11 be at an approximate uniform, stable
thickness and regraded materials will be
treated such that slippage surfaces wilt be
eliminated and root penetration promoted.
Seedbed preparation will also include fertili-
zation where necessary,
Rangeland seeding mixture, as outlined in Sec-
tion 2,05.4, are such that a permanent diverse
vegetative cover of similar or better seasonal
variety to the native communities which previ-
ously existed on the intermediate hills will
be reestablished. Shortlived grass species
are part of the seeding mix to provide initial
vegetation establishment and erosion control.
Cool season grass species will be seeded to
• Revised 08/01/84
Revised 10/12/86
Revised 10/01/87
81
