as the "Squaw Gulch detention basin" in the "Overburden Storage Areas Stability and Hydrology Evaluation
Cresson Project Teller County, Colorado prepared by Golder Associates Inc. and submitted and approved in
Section 6 of Volume IV of the Amendment No. 8 Application. If this technical report is not available to URS
Corporation, a copy of the report can be provided.
Comment #4. CCVA9-SA1/2. Please label historic drainage ways such as Grassy Creek.
Response Please reference drawing "Map 1-General Facilities Layout Cresson Project", which was
submitted in April 2008 as Attachment 6 within the Cresson Project Teller County Mining Development Plan
Amendment for the Mine Life Extension Application to Teller County. This drawing includes labels of the
majority of the drainage ways within the vicinity of the Cresson Project.
Additionally, please reference Figure 3.1 "Monitoring Locations Map", which was submitted in April 2008 as a
fugure within the "Hydrology Evaluation Cresson Project Mine Life Extension" report prepared by Water
Management Consultants Inc. This technical report can be found as Attachment 2 of Volume 11 of the
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension Permit M-1980-244 Application submitted in April 2008.
Comment #5. Pages 5,12 & 13. Please correct typographical errors in the report to include reference to the
design event.
Response As we discussed during the meeting on July 30, CC&V agrees that there appears to be
typographical errors on page 5, 12 & 13.
On Page 5, under the Runoff Coefficients section, midway through the second sentence, it reads
"...because it is proposed to have and engineered..." The word "and" in this portion of the sentence should
be the word "an" URS can make the necessary change to this sentence.
On Page 12, last paragraph, within the third and fourth sentence refers to the design storm event as "l0-
yead24-hr? storm" There is a typographical error in both of these instances and the design criteria should
be "10 yead24-hr storm" excluding the '?'from the criteria. URS can make the necessary change to this
sentence.
On Page 13, last paragraph within the last sentence again refers to the design storm event as "10-year/24-
hr? storm" There is a typographical error in this instances and the design criteria should be "10-yead24-hr
storm" excluding the "?" from the criteria. URS can make the necessary change to this sentence.
Comment N. Page 15. Expand the discussion on off-site impacts to include quantitative details on the impacts
to the Cripple Creek Recreation Area buffer zone and wetlands in proximity to the mine.
Response Details on potential impacts to the Cripple Creek Recreation Buffer are accounted for in
EMP009 design evaluation and this area that was initially evaluated as part of the approved Amendment No.
8 Office of Mined Land Reclamation Permit M-1980-244 Application submitted of March 2000. These
watershed areas did not change as part of the proposed MLE Project, thus the initial design areas are still
valid and remain unchanged. As described in Section 4.7 and identified as the "Poverty Gulch (A) detention
basin" in the "Overburden Storage Areas Stability and Hydrology Evaluation Cresson Project Teller County,
Colorado prepared by Golder Associates Inc. and submitted and approved in Section 6 of Volume IV of the
Amendment No. 8 Application. CC&V does not anticipate any adverse hydrologic impacts to the Poverty
Gulch drainage area. If this technical report is not available to URS Corporation, a copy of the report can be
provided.
Any potential impacts to potential wetlands in proximity to the mine have been address in Section 5.2 thru 5.4
of the Hydrology Evaluation Cresson Project Mine Life Extension report prepared by Water Management
