The multiplier used for contract services is that of Support Activities for Other Mining -Industry
# 21311A. Of the multipliers produced for the region, this category best matched the activities
of CC&V. Multipliers have not been produced by the State specifically for exploration drilling
operations. The multipliers measure the number of jobs and earnings generated for every
$1,000,000 in contract services expenditures. The multipliers were adjusted based on the fact
that many drilling workers only reside in the county part time, and remit some of their earnings
to other localities. The induced portion of the multipliers were reduced by 50% to reflect the
greater than normal leakage of earnings out of the region.
In 2007, almost $6.2 million will be spent for contract drilling services in Teller County by a va-
riety of firms. As a result of these expenditures, 85 jobs and approximately $3.2 million in earn-
ings are supported in Teller County. In the region, 133 jobs are supported, and in the state, 158
jobs are supported. This effect is in addition to the jobs and earnings supported as a result of the
labor expenditures shown in Tables 6 and 9. The employment and earnings effects of these ex-
penditures are shown in Table 10 below.
•
•
19
