• the addition of five haul trucks. Replacement equipment will be purchased as needed to
maintain operations.
The ore will be crushed and processed using the existing crushing and conveying
facilities. (It should be noted that the Load Out Bin and associated conveyors will be
moved to accommodate higher ore stacking on the VLF as part of approvals obtained
under Amendment No. 8.) Ore will be processed on the existing VLF and the proposed
extension to the existing VLF (Phase 5) and recovered in the existing process facility.
Approximately 250 million tons of overburden (non-economic rock) are proposed to be
removed during mining of the Cresson MLE areas. This rock will be backfilled into other
portions of the mine, along with rock from other mining areas already approved under
Amendment No. 8, to establish apost-mining topography as shown in the amended
reclamation plan drawing (Drawing F-1). Up to approximately 66 million tons of
overburden is proposed to be placed in ECOSA and up to approximately 50 million tons
of overburden is proposed to be placed in the SGOSA Extension.
Approximately 110 million tons of ore from the MLE areas is proposed to be placed
• within the existing VLF and proposed extension to the VLF. Phase 5 of the VLF includes
both the changes in height to the existing VLF Phases and new placement in the Phase 5
area. This compares to the 300 million tons of ore to be developed from currently
approved Amendment No. 8 mine areas for placement on the existing Phases I through
IV of the VLF. Total ore to be processed is Phases I through 5 of the VLF is
approximately 410 million tons.
During active operations the MLE will affect approximately 1,498 total acres in surface
mine areas and approximately 616 total acres in overburden storage areas. The Phase 5
VLF extension will add approximately 138 acres to the VLF footprint for a total of
approximately 514 acres. Drawing C-4a in Exhibit C shows the changes in disturbed area
categories from the existing approved disturbance to this MLE. Upon reclamation the
affected acreages for overburden storage and the VLF will increase slightly as slopes are
regraded to allow growth medium replacement and revegetation. The total affected area
for the MLE will remain the same as for Amendment No. 8. The ancillary acreage for the
MLE has been reduced while disturbance in other categories such as mine areas and
overburden storage areas has been increased to allow the affected acres to remain the
same. The total affected areas for both Amendment No. 8 and the MLE are
• Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension
1-5
