After bacltfilling and grading the area, the
seed bed will be prepared using the most appropriate method for the
resulting slopes. If the slopes are suitable for equipment, the-soils will
first be chiseled to eliminate compacted conditions. An appropriate
fertilizer (18-46-0) will then be applied to the roughened soils at the rate
of 200# per acre to compensate for nutrient deficiencies. After the
fertilizer is applied, it will be incorporated into the soils, using discing "--
machinery when possible. If at the time of reclamation it is determined
that there are better methods of preparing the seed bed, we may choose to
use those alternative methods.
iii) The species of grasses, fortis, shrub and trees chosen for re-vegetation
shall be compatible with the proposed final land use and shall be of
adequate diversity to establish successful reclamation. A listing of the
appropriate species and applicable planting quantities can be found
attached to Exhi d fitted "Table 1 -Recommended Species and
Rates". We will use this Table as our guide for re-vegetating disturbed
areas. In addition, at the time or reclamation, we may contact the
Colorado Division of Wildlife for their suggestions for species of grasses,
fortis, shrubs and trees that are preferred for wildlife habitat and
consumption.
iv} Depending on the steepness of the slopes, grass and forb seed will be
applied using one or more of the following methods: -grass drill,
hydroseeding, or manually broadcasting the seed. If the seed is manually
broadcasted, the application rate will be twice the rate required for seed
drilling.
RECEIVED
JUL 19 2007
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safe~-
3~
~~
