In general, the affected area will be re-vegetated in such a way as to establish a diverse, <br />~' effective, and long lasting vegetative cover that is capable ofself-regeneration without continued <br />dependence on irrigation, soil amendments or fertilizer, and is at least equal in extent of cover to <br />the natural vegetation of the surrounding area. <br />a) When a mined area is deemed to be depleted of marketable sandstone and it is no <br />:~ <br />Longer used for any mining-related activities, reclamation in that area will begin. <br />Qverburden and waste materials will be replaced and compacted for stability, at a depth , <br />necessary to achieve a proper grade for sustained vegetative and plant growth that will be <br />compatible with the selected final Land use. If inert structural C1l generated from the <br />apiproved permit area is not adequate to backfil[ an excavated pit, the operator will import <br />inert structural fill generated from its other MLRB permitted areas., <br />b} The maximum gradient of reclaimed slopes will be .~ .~ ahorizontat: verticai)_ The area <br />is now composed of slopes of.z ~ ®or more. Where possible, efforts will be made -a <br />blend the affected and unaffected areas far slope continuity. Wherever it differs, the <br />reclaimed area will be (edged every few feet to keep the slope at a reasonable grade. All <br />grading shall be done in a manner to control erosion and siltation of the affected lands <br />and: to protec! areas outside the affected land fmm slides and other damage. Any <br />higlhwalts remaining will be left in a siab[e. condition.
