grading. It is further assumed that cut and fill slopes would not create additional <br />disturbance on each side of each pad. Assuming ten sites need minor leveling and <br />construction of the ten outboard 10' X 10' pits 0.207 acres of disturbance may result <br />from construction of drill sites and associated pits. <br />No impacts or disturbance from pedestrian point placement and recording is anticipated, <br />as again, such pedestrian-based activity would meet the criteria for classification as <br />"casual use.n <br />Data Acquisition <br />Recording equipment, supplies and possibly core would be transported to and from the <br />field by truck or backhoe using existing roads and proposed travel routes. Sufficient <br />equipment to drill holes and minimize transport use would be placed on the drill pad and <br />carried from hole to hole with the drilling rig and supply transports. <br />Approximately 3 crewmembers would conduct daily operations for 12 to 14 hours per <br />day. crewmembers would be organized into field groups of 2 to 4 personnel; groups <br />would operate at intervals throughout the project area. crewmembers would carpool <br />daily to the project area in the morning and return to surrounding cities/towns in the <br />evening. <br />Demobilization <br />The demobilization task would proceed concurrently with data acquisition. All stakes, <br />flagging; and other trash would be gathered daily as the field groups and crew members <br />complete data-acquisition portions of the project. The refuse would be collected at <br />points on roads and transported by vehicle to drill pads where personnel would organize <br />materials, handle equipment; and dispose of used/unusable materials. This task would <br />be completed within about 5 days after conclusion of the data acquisition task. <br />Support Operations <br />All equipment, including the drilling rig, would be initially brought to the project area by 2 <br />to 3 transport trucks/tractor trailers as part of project mobilization. Operation of most <br />support vehicles, including pickups, would be limited to existing roads and planned <br />travel routes. <br />Restoration /Reclamation <br />As feasible and determined necessary by the BLM, travel routes would be closed to <br />public use following completion of the proposed project. If determined necessary by the <br />BLM, when exploration operations are completed, signs and barricades would be <br />placed within sensitive habitats (including areas supporting biological soil crusts and <br />wild horse habitat) within the project area to discourage OHV use on established travel <br />routes. All areas compacted by vehicle tracks would be scarified (the breaking up of the <br />compaction to improve water infiltration, reduce surface runoff, provide a seedbed for <br />the establishment of vegetation, and discourage subsequent OHV use) by hand-raking <br />when determined to be necessary by the BLM All scarified areas would be re-seeded <br />with native plant seed mixtures determined by the BLM. Reclamation costs associated <br />with the project are estimated at $5,000.00. <br />
