Measurement and Payment There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this task will be reflected in a lump sum bid under Item 4 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover all costs for mulch acquisition and application and surface roughening. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for all labor, materials, equipment and all other items necessary and incidental to the acquisition and placement mulch and for surface roughening of topsoil as directed and described in the specifications. Payment for this task will be made only for the amount bid under Item 4 of the Bid Schedule. Payment shall be as this task is completed and approved by the PROJECT MANAGER. TASK 5 CHANNEL CONSTRUCTION A drainage channel shall be constructed in order to convey drainage from the landslide immediately north of the Work Area -to the North Fork of the Gunnison River. PROJECT MANAGER will stake the location of the channel prior to commencing construction operations. The channel shall be trapezoidal in shape. The bottom of the channel shall be no less than twenty four inches (24") wide. The channel shall have a total depth of twenty four inches (24") as measured from the base to the crest, and the side slopes shall be no steeper than 2.5H:1 V. The gradient of any one segment of the channel shall not exceed five percent (5%). Topsoil will be evenly applied to the ditch at a four inch (4") depth. In order to achieve successful application of the liner specified below, it will be necessary to remove clods and rock from the surface of the soil. A flat, uniform, rock - and dip - free soil surface must be established prior to seed and fertilizer application. The seed and fertilizer may not be applied until such a surface has been achieved. Upon completion of topsoiling, diammonium phosphate fertilizer (18-46-0) shall be applied to at a rate of 300 pounds per acre. Seed will be applied at the rate of ten pounds (10#) per acre. CONTRACTOR shall supply the fertilizer, OWNER shall supply the seed. After seeding and fertilization is complete a liner shall be installed. The liner shall consist of 100% coconut fiber encased top and bottom in heavyweight ultra violet stabilized netting. Components shall be sewn on 1.5 inch centers. North American Green C-125 or approved equivalent is acceptable. The liner shall be installed per manufacturers specifications. Following liner installation, small rock check dams will be constructed within the channel. The check dams-will-be-built on- seventy- five-feet (75')-centers-for the-length-of the- channel-. The-first dam will be built twenty five feet (25') below the main road. The check dams will be constructed using locally obtained rock. Each dam shall extend across the base of the channel and up each side to one foot (1) past each crest. See Figure 3, Check Dams, for construction specifications. Measurement and Payment The Channel will be measured to the nearest linear foot. Measurement for payment will consist of measuring the length of the channel installed. Payment for this task will be paid for at the price established in Item 5 of the Bid Schedule per linear foot installed. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for all labor, materials, equipment and all other items necessary and incidental to the construction of the channel to the specifications, including furnishing and placing the liner, placement of topsoil, distribution of seed, provision and installation of fertilizer and installation of the rock check dams as directed and described in the specifications. Payment will be as this task is completed and approved by the PROJECT -- MANAGER. Payment for this task will be made only for the unit price shown under Item 5 of the Bid Schedule. 8
