Measurement and Payment <br />There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this task will be reflected in a lump <br />sum bid under Item 4 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover all costs for mulch <br />acquisition and application and surface roughening. Such payment shall be considered full <br />compensation for all labor, materials, equipment and all other items necessary and incidental <br />to the acquisition and placement mulch and for surface roughening of topsoil as directed and <br />described in the specifications. Payment for this task will be made only for the amount bid <br />under Item 4 of the Bid Schedule. Payment shall be as this task is completed and approved <br />by the PROJECT MANAGER. <br />TASK 5 CHANNEL CONSTRUCTION <br />A drainage channel shall be constructed in order to convey drainage from the landslide <br />immediately north of the Work Area -to the North Fork of the Gunnison River. PROJECT <br />MANAGER will stake the location of the channel prior to commencing construction operations. <br />The channel shall be trapezoidal in shape. The bottom of the channel shall be no less than <br />twenty four inches (24") wide. The channel shall have a total depth of twenty four inches (24") <br />as measured from the base to the crest, and the side slopes shall be no steeper than 2.5H:1 V. <br />The gradient of any one segment of the channel shall not exceed five percent (5%). <br />Topsoil will be evenly applied to the ditch at a four inch (4") depth. In order to achieve successful <br />application of the liner specified below, it will be necessary to remove clods and rock from the <br />surface of the soil. A flat, uniform, rock - and dip - free soil surface must be established prior to <br />seed and fertilizer application. The seed and fertilizer may not be applied until such a surface has <br />been achieved. <br />Upon completion of topsoiling, diammonium phosphate fertilizer (18-46-0) shall be applied to at <br />a rate of 300 pounds per acre. Seed will be applied at the rate of ten pounds (10#) per acre. <br />CONTRACTOR shall supply the fertilizer, OWNER shall supply the seed. After seeding and <br />fertilization is complete a liner shall be installed. The liner shall consist of 100% coconut fiber <br />encased top and bottom in heavyweight ultra violet stabilized netting. Components shall be sewn <br />on 1.5 inch centers. North American Green C-125 or approved equivalent is acceptable. The <br />liner shall be installed per manufacturers specifications. <br />Following liner installation, small rock check dams will be constructed within the channel. The <br />check dams-will-be-built on- seventy- five-feet (75')-centers-for the-length-of the- channel-. The-first <br />dam will be built twenty five feet (25') below the main road. The check dams will be constructed <br />using locally obtained rock. Each dam shall extend across the base of the channel and up each <br />side to one foot (1) past each crest. See Figure 3, Check Dams, for construction specifications. <br />Measurement and Payment <br />The Channel will be measured to the nearest linear foot. Measurement for payment will <br />consist of measuring the length of the channel installed. Payment for this task will be paid for <br />at the price established in Item 5 of the Bid Schedule per linear foot installed. Such payment <br />shall be considered full compensation for all labor, materials, equipment and all other items <br />necessary and incidental to the construction of the channel to the specifications, including <br />furnishing and placing the liner, placement of topsoil, distribution of seed, provision and <br />installation of fertilizer and installation of the rock check dams as directed and described in the <br />specifications. Payment will be as this task is completed and approved by the PROJECT -- <br />MANAGER. Payment for this task will be made only for the unit price shown under Item 5 of <br />the Bid Schedule. <br />8
