-2-
Apparently, the old access road to the Monarch Fan area, with its origin '
located approximately one mile north of the Southfield Mine, has been blocked
by the erection of a fence across the road. As such, access to Section 31 is
currently available only for the GEC haul road. The exact relocation of the
haul road will be determined based upon monies available, but is currently
planned to originate south of the current entrance off of the county road,
continue across the existing culvert in the Magpie Creek diversion, and either
extend to the northeast over an existing small access road, or be reconstructed
along the existing road once reclamation grades are achieved.
Mr. Weaver has stated that the landowner from the Section 31 area may pass
through the Southfield Mine permit area to gain access to this area. Timing of
--the--reconstruction-of--the---road will-be-such-that-delays-to-access-the-area ----- ---- ------
[if any] will be at a minimum.
The Division will discuss any constructive ideas The Corley Company may have
concerning this matter. Please feel free to contact Harry Ranney or
Jim McArdle to set up a time to meet if you so desire.
Sincerely,
Harry B. Ranney
Environmental Protection Specialist
HBR/ern
M:\oss\ern\corley.hbr
