Task 3 - Section 15 Stream Realignment
This task requires the furnishing of all labor and equipment necessary to excavate and
establish a new stream channel for an unnamed stream emptying into Del Augua Creek in the
extreme south center of Section 15.
Work Descriation
Approximately four hundred feet of new stream channel will be excavated through surficial
clay, silt, and unconsolidated sediment containing occasional coal, and other imported rock.
Bedrock is believed to be between five and ten feet below the surface, and consists of silt
stone and sandstone with a notable absence of gravel normal to stream laid deposits.
Bedrock may or may not be encountered during excavation. The new channel will be twenty
feet in width at the bottom with a high berm on the. northwest side (see Drawing #1). Excess
material from channel construction shall be used in construction of the berms, and/or disposed
of in the Pond 15-P10 removal, and regrading or embankment construction for Pond 22-P10.
Slight meanders will be constructed to slow the flow of water and allow development of a
normal stream channel (see Map #4).
A mine haulage road will cross the realigned channel by a riprapped low water crossing. This
portion of the task requires excavating the road, plus ten (10) feet on each side of the road,
a depth of two (2) feet below stream channel grade and replacing with two feet of riprap (see
Map #4). Riprap material for the road crossing must consist of durable irregular rock have a
minimum D - 50 of 6 inches and D-max of 9 inches. Riprap will have to be imported and must
be approved by Project Manager prior to hauling to the site. Channel configuration, and limits
will be staked by DMG personnel. The portion of the haul road below the riprapped crossing
shall be re-graded to eliminate a large erosion gully. The width and grade of the road shall not
be changed.
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment for Task #3. Payment for Task #3 will be
reflected in a lump sum bid under Item 3 on the Bid Schedule.
Task 4 - Pond 15-P10 Removal
The purpose of this task is to completely remove Pond 15-P10 which was not included in the
mine permit as a permanent pond.
Work Descrir)tion
The east, south and west embankments of Pond 15-P10 shall be removed and incorporated
into the north side of the inslope. The resulting new slope shall be graded to approximate
original contour. Revegetation shall be according to specifications in 20.0 Revegetation,
attached, and will be paid for under Item 13.
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment for Task #4. Payment for Task #4 will be
reflected in a lump sum bid under Item 4 on the Bid Schedule.
7
