I
-2-
Tables for Net Evaporation and Water Consumption for Excavated Materials are
attached. Consumed water for the project is based on an assumed total of 1 millon
tons produced at the site at a rate of 100,000 tons per year over a ten year period. It
is further assumed that a maximum of 75% of mined material will be mined below
the water surface elevation and that 4% of that material will be, by weight, water that
is consumed. The estimated annual consumption for 100,000 tons is 2.207 acre-
feet. Total Consumption due to mined materials at the site for 1 million tons over
ten years would be estimated to be 22.07 acre feet. As dewatering may be done
during excavation activities from one pond into the other, the actual total water
consumed should be less as the groundwater levels would be reduced during most
excavation activities.
The annual net evaporation increase and final net evaporation for the site is based on
exposing an average 3.023 acres of water surface area per year for ten years. The
interpolated exposed water surface area and the net evaporation values from the
table for an area of 3.023 acres is 7.57 acre-feet per year. After 10 years the planned
exposed water surface area will be approximately +/- 30 acres and annual net
evaporation is an estimated 75.70 acre-feet.
2. There is only the single well owned by the applicant within 600 feet of the permit
area. The well is a residential supply well for their home.
3. Offsite water will be used for any dust abatement or other site uses.
4. The Damage Agreement/Promise to Correct document for the Deep Cut Ditch
Water Right Ownership has been attached and also a copy of the agreement
concerning the applicants well.
I have also enclosed a check for the $100 application fee and I have revised and attached
the Gravel Pit Well Permit Application (a single application for both ponds) to reflect a
final +/- 30 acre water surface area and have included my field notes on a site map from
the site inspection. !
Please contact me if you have any questions at (719) 655-2709. Thank you.
egards,
c ??
Timoth Scanlon
Geologist
Cc: with attachments, Mr. Russ Means - DRM&S
