L
sprays from a water storage truck are used to suppress the dust. Thia
method of dust control complies with MSRA regulations.
The overburden drills at the Edna Mine generate a small quantity of
duet. This dust is collected by a filtering system developed for duet
collection. This filtering system is maintained to operate efficiently at
all times. The overburden drills are also equipped with water spray tanks
for use ae a reserve system.
3.6.5 BIIFFBA ZONE 8Z8a[YTION
The stream buffer zone exemptions shown along Trout Creek are located
at the adjudicated and alternate points of diversion of the Edna Mine's
water rights. At this time, the only point that is planned to be used the
site adjacent to the Moffat Area. The buffer exemption is to allow best
use of a light use road (Trout Creek Road) in the area and minimize
additional disturbance. As currently constructed, the truck fill station
• is located at the terminus of the Light Use Road with a pipeline extending
into the 100' foot buffer zone to a pump placed at the streams edge. The
water intake to the pump was placed in the stream channel without
modification to the stream channel configuration. Since the pump was
mobile, disturbance to the bank and surrounding area was not considered
necessary. Vegetation was left in place to minimize the potential for
erosion. When the pump is no longer needed, the area will be revegetated
where necessary with species found in the surrounding vegetation community.
The stream buffer zone exemption along Oak Creek covers the existing
coal loadout, offices and sediment ponds. Because of space limitations in
the narrow valley, all available area has been used either by the state
road, the narrow channel, the railroad mainline, or mine facilities. The
mine facilities include the old and new rail loadouts with their siding
tracks, changing rooms, warming huts, silos, conveyors, etc.; the
sedimentation system with its sediment ponds, ditches, culverts and drains;
the offices including a parking area, well pump house and equipment storage
pads; and the access roads. In this area, a natural, effective buffer is
created by the D&RGW Railroad mainline which runs between the stream and
• the mine facilities. An existing culvert is located in Oak Creek at the
Mid-term '94 3.6-9 September 15, 1994
