• entrance to the mine. This will be removed when the road is reclaimed and
the channel will be restored. The culvert was placed into the channel
without modifying the grade of the streambed. When it is no longer needed,
the culvert and fill material will be removed with the channel and banks
returned to their former slopes and blended into the upstream and
downstream stream segments. Water quality is protected by the sediment
ponds operated in accordance with the NPDES Permit (Appendix 3.7-D) and
water quantity is not adversely affected as described in the Colorado
Division of Water Resources Water Right Adjudication (Appendix 3.7-D).
Ae a result, an exemption from the buffer zone has been granted for
the water withdrawal point described along Trout Creek, and the office -
loadout area on Oak Creek. The revegetation of appropriate riparian
habitat will be with appropriate riparian species. The other water
withdrawal points will be managed as buffer zones until a specific
operation and reclamation plan is developed for them.
3.6.6 N7-ZNTBNANCB AND RBCLAMATION OF SUPPORT PACILITI89
All support facilities at Edna Mine that are used incidental to the
mining activities will be inspected and maintained periodically to insure
that no environmental harm is being done and that the requirements of 4.04
i in the performance standards are met. When all support facilities are
removed, the areas compacted by traffic or building foundations will be
ripped before the area is graded. In the areas that had topsoil removed,
the topsoil will be replaced. The whole area then will be revegetated
according to the approved standards at that time. Reclamation of these
areas will be done in a manner to assure that the performance standards of
4.04 are being met.
The silo will be dismantled and any salvageable materials retained.
During construction of the silo, approximately 6,000 cubic yards of
material were removed for the foundation. The silo contains approximately
183 cubic yards of cement in the foundation, 1,640 cubic yards in the silo
and cap, and 1,350 cubic yards in the bottom feeder chute. The concrete in
the silo will be broken and used to fill the depression caused by
excavation. The breaking of the concrete will cause it to swell about 30
Mid-term '94 3.6-10 September 15, 1994
