shortly after construction. The drainage course discharges out along the
Goat Trail where the runoff is conveyed to the tipple ponds via the Goat
Trail drainage system.
Reclamation of the conveyor corridor will consist of removal of the
conveyor belt structures, removal of accumulated coal fines, reshaping the
top of the fill area along the A-conveyor, placing water bars along the
length of the conveyor corridor to reduce runoff velocities, and re-
establishing the vegetation with the approved seed mixture.
It is recognized that the drainage courses used to direct flow along
the A-conveyor portion of the corridor were primarily formed prior to the
passage of SMCRA, and are considered pre-existing conditions. P&M further
acknowledges that some deterioration may have occurred since the passage of
SMCRA through the continued use of these drainage courses. As such,
during reclamation of the A-conveyor segment of the conveyor system the
fill slope will be regraded and water-barred to minimize the amount of
runoff which may migrate toward the drainages. Rehabilitation of the
• drainage courses, if necessary, will be formulated with due regard to (1)
the pre-SMCRA existence of the drainages, (2) the risk of damage to
undisturbed land in performing rehabilitation, and (3) the limitations of
the ability of safely operating equipment on the slope.
3.6.E AIR POLLIITION CONTROL PLAN
Three areas exist at the Edna Mine which require measures to control
dust. These areas are the coal-handling facility, the haulroads and the
overburden drilling area.
Coal dust is controlled in the coal-handling facilities at all points
of transfer, crushing, feeding and loading. Each transfer point, crusher
and feeder is equipped with water sprays to reduce dust, and all facilities
and beltlines are enclosed. The loadout is equipped with a telescoping
loading chute to reduce dust. The coal-handling facility dust control
methods have been examined and approved by the Colorado Department of
Health, Air Quality Control Division.
The haulroads at the Edna Mine are another potential dust source.
. During the summer months, when the dust potential is the highest, water
Mid-term '96 3.6-8 September 15, 1994
