Structure Description/notes Owners
K. Private residence Immediately to the west of The Hogan is a separate private residence, with McLaws, F Bruce &
and outbuildings landscaping, outbuildings, access via driveway, and utilities. It is located Jeannine E
approximately 400 feet from the affected land. All developed portions of the 38645 US 160
property are more than 200 feet from affected land.
Evaluation Proposed mining and final grade slopes to match to undisturbed land in the buffer zone will adequately
protect this property from any damage due to mining operations. The terrain and the distance from
affected land protect these permanent structures from any significant physical impact. The south buffer
zone was laid out in part to ensure that there was no impact on this property. All operations are
downslope.
Conclusion and These structures will not be damaged by proposed operations, based on terrain and distance from
recommendations affected lands.
Structure Description/notes Owners
L. Stock pond A small pond, approximately 30 feet in diameter and of undetermined depth, McLaws, F Bruce &
partially incised and partially bermed, is located near the residence (K). The Jeannine E
pond is 200 feet from the affected land. The pond is often dry.. 38645 US 160
Evaluation The pond is located an adequate distance from mining that proposed depths and slopes will not create
any problems with slope or bearing capacity, based on reasonably expected depth of the pond and its
intermittent nature.
Conclusion and This structure will not be damaged by proposed operations, based on terrain and distance from affected
recommendations lands.
Structure Description/notes Owner
M. Fencing Property line fencing partially on all sides, and internal pasturage fencing. Landowners and
The fence is a standard 4-strand barbed wire along the highway right-of-way, CDOT
with wood and steel posts of various sizes and condition. On the north and
west, and partially on the east sides of the parcel, and internal to the parcel,
several 3-strand barbed-wire fences divide pasture areas and mark property
boundaries. Fences in fair to good condition.
Evaluation As stated in the mining and reclamation plans, mining on the edges of property will be done to allow for
a permanent, post-mining 3H:1V slope and slopes will be stabilized to prevent damage to fencing. Soil
conditions and slopes will be adequate to prevent significant damage.
Conclusion and The fencing is not expected to be damaged by proposed operations, based on slopes, soil conditions,
recommendations and fence condition. Some fencing will require replacement during the period of mining due to existing
conditions and expected use and normal deterioration. Bonding should include a small amount for
fence repair and replacement in case of damage during reclamation. If possible, operations should be
coordinated with the Noland Inc. pit to the west to allow highwalls and reclamation slopes to be reduced
and all materials recovered.
