P <br /> •r V <br /> � F ,{5t vX .��c y 1 <br /> Photo I—E seam(03-11-1, foreground)and B seam(1-11-1) monitoring will, m nonhc:ut corner of <br /> permit area. <br /> Processing Waste <br /> The faces of the Refuse Pile Expansion pile and the Lower Refuse Pile showed no evidence of <br /> structural instability. Survey markers were in place on the faces of both piles. The top of the <br /> Lower Pile is being used for equipment storage,as approved. <br /> Support Facilities <br /> No problems were found on the Materials Storage Bench,the trash compactor area, or the <br /> explosives magazine. Shaft 3 is now operating,construction having been recently completed. <br /> Topsoil <br /> Topsoil stockpiles were properly marked and protected by grass cover in the surface facilities <br /> area(next to the coal stockpile)and in upper Sylvester Gulch. <br /> Slides and Damage <br /> The operator's representative pointed out three small slides that had recently occurred on <br /> previously disturbed ground in the main surface facilities area. The representative had reported <br /> the slides in a phone call to DBMS when the slides were first found, about two weeks before this <br /> inspection. The largest of the three slides was one that covered less than one acre on the slope <br /> above inactive Portal#1. The operator was monitoring movement of this slide using recently <br /> installed survey reflectors. The other two slides(one on the hillslope next to the main entrance <br /> 4 <br />
