-2-
June 18, 1980 - MLRD Inspection: Roger Funston, inspector; Craig
Sherwood, contact.
Inspection Report Record: "Hydrologic concerns are being
addressed in the pending permit amendment." Compliance
deadline was dropped.
July 24, 1980: MLRD and Board approved the amendment which included the
refuse pond designs.
----------------- --------------------------------
_ __
From this point until Spring of 1982, the pond designs were under review
by the State Engineer' s Office.
---------------------------------------
September 23, 1980 - MLRD Inspection: Jim Herron, inspector; Craig
Sherwood, contact.
Inspection Report Record: "The embankment of the sediment
pond below the refuse pile has partially slumped on both
sides. Tension cracks were also observed on the embankmenmt."
Early May, 1982: Mr. Sherwood requested that we not require
reconstruction of the refuse pond. Snowmass has decided they do not like
the design and would like to redesign the pond to make it smaller.
May 10, 1982 - Letter from Bob Liddle to Craig Sherwood: I told Mr.
Sherwood that we would allow the construction delay on two conditions:
1) that new designs could be submitted within 30 days, and 2) that the
pond would be constructed within 45 days thereafter.
May 18, 1982 - MLRD Inspection: Robert Liddle, inspector; Craig
Sherwood, contact.
Inspection Report Record: The report noted that pond designs
were to be submitted within 30 days and constructed within 45
days of approval .
July 26, 1982: Final pond designs were submitted by Snowmass.
August 13, 1982 - Phone Call from Craig Sherwood: Mr. Sherwood indicated
that the pond could not be built until the Division approved a technical
revision for a new access road. The material from the access road was to
be used for the pond embankment. I indicated that the August 3, 1982
revision would not be approved until September. Mr. Sherwood should call
Ed Bischoff of our office if he wanted to get the revision approved
faster. I also noted that pond construction should start on August 15,
1982 (the following Monday) .
