1.05 BASIS FOR COMPENSATION <br />A. Compensation for all Work covered under this Section of these Specifications shall be <br />as set forth in Section 01270, Unit Price Measurement and Payment. <br />PART 2: PRODUCTS <br />2.01 MATERIAL <br />A. TOPSOIL <br />Random Topsoil shall be a surficial soil with organic content gathered from the <br />stripped areas and stockpiled on site. <br />2. Topsoil shall consist of loose friable soil from the zone of major root <br />development free of subsoil, refuse, stumps, rocks, noxious weed seed and <br />reproductive plant parts from current federal, state and county weed lists, heavy <br />clay, hard clods, toxic substances, or other material which would be detrimental to <br />its use. The material shall contain roots, brush, and other plant material present in <br />the topsoil prior to stripping and stockpiling. <br />B. SEED <br />Seed shall be approved for use by the USDA Forest Service for restoration. The <br />seed mix shall consist of a minimum 99% pure live seed and beweed-free. The <br />seed mix shall be in accordance with the following the "Seed Mixtures for USDA <br />Forest Service Paonia Ranger District" Mountain Shrub habitat type: <br />Species Pounds/Acre (PLSI % of Mixture <br />Mountain Bromegrass 4 20 <br />Prairie Juegrass 3 15 <br />Western Wheatgrass 4 20 <br />Indian Ricegrass 3 15 <br />Sandberg Bluegrass 3 15 <br />Bluebunch Wheatgrass 3 15 <br />TOTAL 20 100 <br />C. FERTILIZER <br />' 1. Fertilizer shall be that required by USDA Forest Service Paonia Ranger District (if <br />any) in accordance with the USDA permit(s) or reclamation plans for the site.. <br />Fertilizer shall be uniform in composition; dry, and free-flowing, and shall be <br />' delivered to the site in the original, unopened containers, each bearing the <br />manufacturer's guaranteed analysis. Fertilizer which becomes caked or damaged <br />will not be accepted. <br />02950-2 <br />
