D. MULCH <br />Mulch material shall be that required by USDA Forest Service Paonia Ranger <br />District (if any) in accordance with the USDA permit(s) or reclamation plans for <br />the site. Mulch shall be plant materials, including brush, salvaged from azeas <br />cleared during Site Clearing and Grubbing activities. Woody brush over 2" in <br />diameter shall be chipped and incorporated as mulch. <br />PART 3: EXECUTION <br />3.01 SITE RESTORATION <br />A. Site restoration shall be in accordance with COMPANY's reclamation plan(s) for the <br />region, as set forth by their agreement(s) with the USDA Forest Service. If required, <br />additional site restoration requirements documentation will be provided by COMPANY. <br />Seeding and mulching activities shall be performed in accordance with USDA Forest <br />Service requirements and furthermore as set forth in these Specifications. <br />3.02 TOPSOIL PLACEMENT <br />A. Topsoil shall be placed in azeas requiring site restoration, including but not limited to the <br />downstream earth buttress, dam crest, and borrow azea. Following the distribution of <br />topsoil and final grading, the newly shaped surface shall be scarified, loosened, <br />roughened by disking, harrowing, or dragging, particularly in areas where the topsoil <br />surface is glazed or crusted, or in a manner otherwise acceptable to COMPANY and <br />USDA Forest Service. A minimum 6 inches of topsoil shall be placed. <br />B. Surface prepazation of azeas to be seeded shall include final grading to the lines and <br />grades shown on the plan sheets and as determined and approved by COMPANY. All <br />holes, depressions and rivulets shall be filled in to ensure no disruption of established <br />drainage patterns. <br />3.03 SLOPE SEEDING AND MULCHING <br />A. Slope seeding and mulching shall be performed as necessary to establish aself- <br />maintaining herbaceous ground cover on all the downstream slopes constructed and any <br />areas disturbed by CONTRACTOR during construction, and such additional areas as <br />designated by COMPANY. The Work shall include, but is not limited to, surface <br />preparation, fertilization, seeding, mulching, anchoring and all other Work to establish <br />erosion protection. Mulching activities shall include scattering of salvaged brush and <br />plant materials and incorporating the mulch into the topsoil. Seeding and mulching <br />activities shall be performed at a time authorized by, and in a manner acceptable to <br />COMPANY and USDA Forest Service. <br />' D. Fertilizer shall be applied as required by the USDA Forest Service Paonia Ranger <br />District. Mechanical spreading devices shall be used providing uniform distribution of <br />the material over the designated azeas. <br />' END OF SECTION 02950 <br />02950-3 <br />
