2.06 BEDDING AND BACKFILL MATERIAL <br />' A. Pipe bedding and encasement material shall conform to the requirements of subsection 703.07 (a) <br />of the CDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. <br />' B. Utility structure bedding and backfill shall conform to the requirements of Section 206, <br />Excavation and Backfill for Structures of f the CDOT Standazd Specifications for Road and <br />Bridge Construction. <br />2.07 ANCHORS <br />' A. Anchor bolts shall be Hilti HVA epoxy anchors or approved equal. <br />2.08 INTAKE SLUICE GATE <br />A. Intake sluice gate disc and frame shall be constructed of ASTM A-126 Class B cast iron with <br />flanged back configuration with extruded bronze seat seating faces. Flange shall be drilled and <br />tapped in conformance ANSI B 16.1 Class 125 dimensions. <br />B. Fasteners and adjusting bolts shall be ASTM Type 304 stainless steel. <br />C. Bronze wedge seats and adjustable bronze wedges shall be provided on the sides. <br />D. Frame and disc seat shall have which shall be permanently attached to the cast iron frame. <br />E. Gate shall be suitable for mounting as shown in the Drawings and designed for minimum 55 ft. <br />of seating head and 0 ft. of unseating head due to water in the reservoir. CONTRACTOR shall <br />consider in the gate design any additional factors such as slide and seat friction and weight of the <br />stem and gate. <br />F. Stem shall be carbon steel encased in an oil-filled galvanized Sch. 40 steel pipe. Stem sections <br />which are exposed to air or water shall be Type 316 stainless steel. Stem size and oil encasement <br />design shall be determined by the gate manufacturer. Stem shall be rising-stem configuration. <br />Stem shall be designed to transmit in compression at least 2 times the rated output of the <br />operating mechanism with a 40-pount effort on the crank. The Ur ratio of the unsupported stem <br />shall not exceed 200. <br />' G. Oil-lubrication system shall be supplied with all required appurtenances, including but not <br />limited to, packing gland, oil seals, stem couplings, stem guides, adjustable supports or pipe <br />clamps, and 90 weight oil. <br />' H. Operator shall be hand crank with bronze lift nut and gearing enclosed in a cast iron housing. The <br />gearing shall be properly designed to support the load conditions without undue stress. A cleaz <br />' plastic stem guazd long enough to allow the full travel of the stem shall be provided. The stem <br />guard shall be mazked to show gate position. <br />' I. All cast iron surfaces, excluding mating and sliding surfaces, shall be coated with two coats of a <br />' two-part epoxy paint suitable for submerged application applied in accordance with <br />manufacturer's recommendations. <br />' 02661-3 <br /> <br />
